Maari is an upcoming action flick directed by the critically acclaimed Balaji Mohan of the ‘Kaadhalil Sodhapuvadhu eppadi’ fame and produced jointly by Magic Frames banner and Dhanush’s home banner Wunderbar Films.The film sees Dhanush taking off from where he left in his previous outing ‘Anegan’ when it comes to his ‘Thara Local’ role in the lead while Kajal Agarwal plays his love interest and Vijay Yesudas plays an important role too. The revolves around a badass rowdy, Maari (Dhanush) who lives life on his own terms, and has an area in Chennai under his control, despite enemies, competition and a new bold and sincere cop who is bent on bringing Maari to justice.

Meanwhile a new girl (Kajal Agarwal) comes to Maari's area and has to deal with Maari's nemesis. Anirudh joins hands with ‘Poetu’ Dhanush again after blockbuster hits like VIP & 3.

Maari has six songs and each is set to a different flavour and are prospective chart-toppers in the ‘kuththu’ genre.
